EVERYONE IS WELCOME!

Drinking with Scissors is an off-season series of social box-stocking get-togethers centered around the art of fly tying. DWS is designed to bring you face-to-face with others in the fly fishing world and explore the year-round facets of this unique sport. Each night has a tying themed challenge with prizes donated by our favorite outdoor brands.

No boring meetings here! This is for everyone: male, female, old, young, rookies, and veterans.

Not a fly tier? No problem! Come meet one, and you might even end up tying your first fly. Everyone is welcome at these events. Come laugh ol’ man winter away!

So turn off your screens, leave your winter den, and join us!

WHAT TO KNOW

Each event will be held in the greater Madison area to support the Madison fly-fishing community. Events are welcoming and use an open-tie format—come as you are, whether you’re a beginner or an experienced tyer.

What to expect

• Nightly tying challenge for anyone who wants to participate.

• Friendly competitions focused on fun, creativity, and comradery.

• Nightly prizes donated by local supporters.

• Community-building first: participation and attendance are highly encouraged.

• Tie a fly at any event to earn one entry in the grand-prize drawing at the final DWS event.

What to bring

• Vise (tabletop vises work best), tools, materials, and a lamp if you prefer.

• If you don’t have equipment but want to join, contact us—we’ll help you get set up.
